Another slight issue is perhaps that it now means Iraola cannot take the under performing Florian Wirtz out of the squad, with a lack of midfield options meaning it simply has to be Alexis Mac Allister, Nyoni and the German.
For Nyoni, that could be the start of a real run in the team. Fans have been calling for the youngster to play more often, and having done well in the minutes afforded to him, he will now get the opportunity to prove them right.
It will not help Gravenberch, who was looking much more like his old self against City, but at least Liverpool have a top young talent who can come in and give it his best. Many careers in football have been started in similarly unlikely circumstances, and if Nyoni can do well against a strong Brentford team, the absence of Gravenberch and Szoboszlai could quickly become a non issue.
