**Bayern Munich goalkeeper Leonard Prescott could leave the Bundesliga champions next summer, with Chelsea among his suitors, according to reports in Germany.**
[_Sky Sport Deutschland_](https://sport.sky.de/transfer/news/34132/13596459/fc-bayern-vertragsverlaengerung-von-leonard-prescott-stockt-top-klubs-wittern-ihre-chance) claim that talks over a new contract have been “stalling for months” and there is a good chance that the German club’s “big jewel” could depart when his contract expires.
Prescott’s current deal runs out on June 30th 2027, and he will have his pick of suitors if he does depart the Allianz Arena.
The main sticking point in negotiations over a contract extension has been the pathway to the first team. Jonas Urbig is only 23 years of age, and he has been tipped to become no.1 when Manuel Neuer retires.
His presence effectively blocks Prescott’s path, and that is why the US-born German youth international could move teams at the end of the season.
The 17-year-old was born in New York City, but he was brought up in Germany, having joined Union Berlin’s academy prior to his switch to Bayern in 2023.
Prescott has yet to make his senior debut, and he is currently on the treatment table with a knee injury, which has meant he hasn’t played so far this season.
Chelsea will face stiff competition for the keeper

_Sky_ name the Blues and Juventus as the two main contenders to snap up Prescott, but the Italian club could have one major advantage in negotiations.
Xabi Alonso’s side would have to wait until the [**teenager**](https://chelseanews.com/blog/chelsea-transfer-news-luca-williams-barnett/) turns 18 in September next year to sign him due to UK visa rules.
In contrast, Juve could wrap up a deal for Prescott as soon as he leaves Bayern at the start of July.
There could be a potential route around the issue for Chelsea as fellow Blueco side Strasbourg could sign him instead, but the French club are not mentioned in _Sky_‘s report.
