Liverpool Injury News And Return Dates: Updates On Jeremy Jacquet, Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo & 4 Others

Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has confirmed that Jeremy Jacquet should be fit to face Manchester City.

The Frenchman has a tight hamstring, and he did not play for France on Monday against Belgium as a precaution.

Asked about Jacquet’s fitness in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, Iraola said:

“He’s fine. We need to train tomorrow, but he should be fine.”

Expected Return Date – Sunday 11th October vs Manchester City (h)

Federico Chiesa

Iraola has confirmed that the Italian international has recovered from a back injury.

Chiesa has not played a single minute after picking up the issue in the final pre-season friendly against Como in August.

While Iraola says the winger is in contention, his lack of match fitness means he is not ready to start games.

There is, though, a good chance that he will be on the substitutes bench for the City match.

Expected Return Date – Sunday 11th October vs Manchester City (h)

Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo

The two forwards sustained injuries whilst playing for their countries.

Isak has a thigh problem, and Gakpo is carrying an ankle injury, and Iraola has revealed that neither player will be in contention to face City:

“Alex and Cody will not play the game; they are not ready. They got injuries in the international break; in this case, we’ve been unlucky.”

Both injuries are said to be relatively minor, so they could be back in training within the next week.

Expected Return Date – Wednesday 14th October vs LASK (a)

Giovanni Leoni

The defender is very close to playing for the first team after nearly 13 months on the sidelines with an ACL injury.

Due to the amount of time Leoni has been sidelined for, he will have to be eased back into competitive matches.

Expected Return Date – October

Conor Bradley

The right-back is further behind in his rehabilitation than Leoni, and he is still not ready to take part in full training.

It could be another month or two before Bradley fully recovers from the knee injury he sustained against Arsenal last January.

Expected Return Date – November/December

Hugo Ekitike

Iraola has previously stated that the striker is aiming to be back for the last two Champions League group fixtures in January.

However, reports in France have suggested that Ekitike wants to make his comeback from an Achilles tendon injury even earlier than that, having targeted minutes before the end of the year.

Expected Return Date – December/January
