Galatasaray assistant coach Ismael García says that Victor Osimhen will be fit to face Barcelona in the Champions League and feels the striker is the “perfect” player to hurt Hansi Flick’s defence.
Osimhen returned from injury at the weekend for the Turkish side and is now expected to face Barca. Garcia says the striker can cause the visitors all sorts of problems.
“Yes, yes. I’m not going to tell you clichés or lies: he’s ready to play and he’s a completely differential player for us. Obviously, he’s there to play,” he told Diario Sport.
“And I’ll tell you more: the top players do well in every game, but perhaps, because of Barcelona’s way of defending, so aggressive and with the defensive line in the middle of the field, Osimhen is the striker who, due to his characteristics, is perfect against that type of defense.
“Beyond the fact that he is an extraordinary striker, we hope that he can do a lot of damage to Barcelona with the way he plays.”
Despite his confidence about Osimhen, Garcia does admit that taking on Barcelona is a very difficult proposition.
“Yes, of course. In the end, playing against Barça is like going to the dentist: you know it’s going to hurt, but you have to go and take it as well as possible,” he added.
“Hopefully things go well. We know that they are possibly the most in-form team in Europe, but we are confident that we can put them in trouble.”
Barcelona warmed up for the match with a 3-0 win over Getafe in La Liga, while Galatasaray beat Kasımpaşa 3-1 to stay top of the Turkish Super Lig.
