Everton manager David Moyes is out of contract next summer.

When the Friedkin Group completed their Everton takeover, one of their first major decisions was sacking Sean Dyche for David Moyes in January 2025.

Moyes was brought in to stabilise the club and help them retain their Premier League status, which he did.

The Scotsman was only offered a two-and-a-half-year deal, so he is currently due to leave at the end of the season.

With that said, it’s now being reported that Moyes could leave Everton for one of the world’s best-supported clubs.

Everton manager David Moyes could join Celtic next summer

According to Alan Nixon, Scottish giants Celtic are keeping a close eye on Moyes as they consider Martin O’Neill’s successor. O’Neill is currently under pressure after a slow start and his contract expires in June 2027.

It’s also being reported that given the Friedkins are exploring a sale, it leaves Moyes’ position at Everton in further doubt, with no fresh talks over an extension seemingly taking place.

Celtic, who are reportedly the 13th best-supported club in the world (The Herald), will be an attractive destination for the Toffees manager.

Moyes graduated from Celtic’s academy as a young player and went on to make a few appearances for the club before departing for Cambridge United.

It’s also widely reported that he has strong family ties to The Hoops, so it wouldn’t at all be surprising if managing Celtic was one of his managerial ambitions.

At the moment, he’s doing a fine job with Everton, and it looks as though a European challenge is on the cards.

So, if they were to qualify for Europe, surely the Friedkins’ successors would offer Moyes a new contract. A telling seven months lie ahead for Moyes and the football clubs, with a lot still up in the air.
