The Premiership action finally returned after what was starting to feel like a never-ending international break.

And there were welcome wins for both Rangers and Celtic within 24 hours.

Derek McInnes swept Kilmanrock aside inside 45 minutes while Martin O'Neill got the champions back on track with as comfortable a 2-0 win as you'll see away at Motherwell.

But John Spence, South Ayrshire, reckons there's something in the contrasting external reactions to both results. He observed: "Rangers beat a fairly poor Kilmarnock, no fanfare, treated as a routine win, as it should be. Celtic beat an equally poor Motherwell, major fanfare with plaudits all round. Smacks of one team knowing their going along nicely, the other trying to convince themselves they are."

Peter Cooperwhite couldn't resist a tongue in cheek dig at under fire Dermot Desmond following last week's tennis ball protest. He emailed: "I bet deep down Dermot Desmond will have a wee smile on his face this morning as the fans have got their mojo back.

"They got two great wins on the bounce within a week; Gers in the Tennent's Sixes then a win against the mighty Steelmen of Motherwell. Then they got the failed Saudi and French league player back into the fold. Good times ahead is it?

Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, is wondering why the Celtic board don't hit back: "What a racket at St Andrews poor Dermot Desmond, taking belters from a certain individuals protesting by chucking tennis balls. Would it no be better to throw their season tickets into the directors box at the next game instead of this racket?

As the love between the hierarchy and the Green Brigade is heading into civil war or does the board not have the balls to through back at the Brigade? It's just another racket from them week in, week out when Celtic get beat and can't put the ball in the net. As John McEnroe said you cannot be serious?"

Kasper Hogh's goalless run continued and that £11million fee is looking more expensive by the game, especially with Camilo Duran on target again at roughly half the price.

But William Hutchison, Aberdeen, is looking beyond just the poor goal return. He pleaded: "Wish everyone get off KASPER HOGH's back. Yeah he's got big price on his head, hasn't scored in what 6 /7 games and his confidence is shot.

"But if he isn't scoring h's setting up for other players to score. Look at Motherwell game he set up for Nygren to score basically everyone congratulated him ..but fairs fair even though he's not scoring he's still got big smile on his face. He just needs a goal to give him boost."

There was also some rare praise for Sebastian Tounekti. Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, was pleased with what the Tunisian produced: "I would have taken any sort of display at Fir Park as long as three points were secured, so it was particularly satisfying to witness such a dominant display by the champions after.

"While I was delighted to see flying machine Jota back for me Sebastian Tounekti produced his best performance yet in a Hoops shirt. He reminds me of Samaras as you never know what you’re going to get and if he could add more consistency to his game he’d be the first name on the team line up every week."

Another home defeat for Aberdeen has piled the pressure on Stephen Robinson and Tam Bain insists it should be time up: "If Robinson can't beat St Johnstone at home with the team he spent decent money on and Cormack Park at his disposal he needs to go NOW. Aberdeen are serving up absolute dross. Useless, go now Robinson."

Sky Sports were building up Liverpool vs Man City as a powderkeg after the Citizens were found guilty on 114 of the 115 charges facing them, with an appeal lodged and everyone awaiting their punishment.

Enzo Maresca's side thumped the ten-man Reds 3-0 and Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, is calling out their fans for double standards: "What an absolute sham. Carragher and Neville build the game up for weeks and as soon as Manchester City go in front , they say that it means nothing.

"When Liverpool fans shamed the country at the Heysel Stadium and got all English clubs banned I cannot remember their apology to the whole country. Short memory boys tell it like it is."
