Predict the Score, Week 5! Bills at Rams!
Opening: Well, it was inevitable, a winnable game that turned ugly quickly- and has us questioning all sorts of things, from our coaches to our QB, to our DBs and everything in-between. We’re down, but not out. Just like a prize-fighter; it ain’t over until the final bell rings, and we haven’t even been knocked out yet, just bruised a bit. Last week, BonJonBovi came out of retirement and tried to bring back the band with a near exacto of his own in his bid to be my least favorite musician from the 80s. Why do you want us to lay your hands on you anyway? In all seriousness, congrats. We know how fickle this game can be and wins/losses can happen at any moment.
Week four: Bills at Rams: The Bills channel another aging rocker with long hair and get On the Road Again (for the first time in nearly a month). Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em boys! Sure, weed is legal in NY and Cali, but I mean smoke the Rams, who eked out a Win last week and won’t be in the extreme desperation mode this week that I feared they would be in with an “L”. But they still have a lot left to prove and a lot of pride. LA will finally have their heat wave broken; it’s projected to only be 70 degrees there on Monday. There’s even a chance of rain/showers. Fun.
Bills 25, Rams18: The Bills have cooled off a lot over the past few weeks but are still talented enough to put up a decent score against the Rams, who will be a little less ferocious without Darnold and Garrett in the lineup. Josh turns the ball over twice. He also scores from 14 yards out and throws a bullet that Keon holds on to in the endzone. Puka has a day against us, putting up over 150 receiving yards and 2 TDs, but the Bills hold on.
The Shiv: Week 5
Buffalo heads to the West Coast to take on a schizophrenic Rams team on the grand Monday night stage. Many have put this down as a preview of a SB matchup.
Offense: Hey Brady, this offense runs through that gigantic mauling oline and someone you might have heard of, one Mr. James Cook.
Two weeks running, we have gone away from the run game to try to play arena football. Bukken Stop. A crippled DJ Moore is not going to open up things against a pair of great Rams corners**. Line up your tight ends, run right at them and then make their linebackers cover your TE’s**. Once you have nine guys crashing down, then you can test them deep. We might not have the horses in the secondary to compete with the Rams downfield passing attack. In light of that, take some ten play drives to keep the Rams off the field and give the defense a rest.
Defense: Get out of zone. Look we might not have the secondary horses we need available to us Monday. Play two deep man under and send people at Stafford. I believe our front seven is better than their line, TEs and RBs. I feel like we can contain the run pretty well. We have to get heat on Stafford or this game will get out of hand quick. Uncle Matt isn’t mobile like Meh is. If we can get to him, he has been prone to throw a few up for grabs. I would like for anyone to take over Dorian Williams spot at ILB. It is very clear he doesn’t know where he is supposed to be. The few times he does figure it out, he will miss his tackle. Maybe a Shaq call up this week?
We are going to give up points. Just need to keep grinding.
Bills 38 Rams 35
This is going to be a heavyweight fight between two really good teams. Both teams strengths match up with the other teams weaknesses. Without a ton of turnovers, this game is going to hit the over pretty quickly. We will be playing the refs hardcore this week, so start preparing mentally for that.
As always our QB is 17x better than theirs…. Go Bills
Hype Poster: Spoiler alert: I love horror movies and love to post them in October. It’s still early in the season, but I think that the time is right to call for an exorcist. It feels that there’s a real bad presence hovering over our team right now. Let’s hope we’re not fighting the penalties/overzealous refs all game and sprinkle the team with holy relics in the hopes that they don’t throw up over everything and they can ultimately revert to the team we know and love.
Closing: Astute readers of this post know that I am taking a one-week hiatus from this post next week, but you’re all in good hands with BillsNerd as the guest-host and the always reliable Stabby anchoring this post with his insight. I’ll be in LA to celebrate my 20th anniversary with my wife and kids. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate it than going to a Bills game, we’re making sure to bring the Upstate NY, Autumn Rain with us, I guess. I might check in from time-to-time but didn’t want the fog of jetlag to spoil PtS. So please be kind to BillsNerd and continue with your happy prognosticating!
