Manchester City has allegedly breached another Premier League rule following their emphatic 3-0 triumph over Liverpool on Sunday, after boss Enzo Maresca neglected to fulfil his media obligations with radio stations.

City encountered a hostile reception at Anfield in the aftermath of their guilty verdict regarding 114 Premier League financial breaches.

A wave of boos and jeers echoed around the ground before kick-off, accompanied by chants in a pointed reference to the club's continuing legal proceedings. Fans at Anfield displayed banners reading: "And after all you really robbed us all," and "All of your stars are fading away."

None of that, however, prevented the visitors from cruising to an emphatic 3-0 success against their opponents, with Maresca's outfit quick to capitalise on their extra man following Ryan Gravenberch's second booking, and resulting dismissal, on 62 minutes.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring just three minutes following Gravenberch's sending-off, before Jeremy Doku doubled the advantage a mere three minutes afterwards.

Rayan Cherki sealed the victory with roughly 10 minutes left on the clock, as City returned to Greater Manchester with maximum points, preserving their place at the top of the Premier League standings. While the club has lodged an appeal as they maintain their position of innocence, City will be unable to avoid a rule breach committed following Sunday's encounter at Anfield.

According to the Express, the club failed to make Maresca available to speak with radio broadcasters following the fixture, despite fulfilling obligations with outlets such as Sky Sports and appearing at a post-match press conference.

The Premier League handbook stipulates that "Each club participating in a league match must ensure that each radio broadcaster that has the right to the radio transmission of that league match is permitted to interview (a) at least one player who featured prominently in the league match and (b) the manager, following the league match."

While no specific sanction exists within the Premier League's regulations for City regarding this infringement, it is expected that the club will receive an administrative fine for sidestepping radio interviews. This development arrives as City await a decision on their breaches of the Premier League's financial regulations in early 2027.

Should their challenge prove unsuccessful, the club could face a range of penalties, contingent upon the severity of punishment the league opts to deliver. Nevertheless, according to Gary Neville, the English top flight finds itself in turmoil owing to the continuing controversy.

Speaking on Sky Sports over the weekend, the pundit remarked: "The word 'sham' was obviously used quite a lot, and people will think for the next few months it's a sham league. You know, we've heard the word 'cheats' just ring around the ground, basically for the last 10 minutes of the match.

"We've heard Liverpool fans singing 'going down' to a team that are at the very top of the league. And you can't get that negativity out of your heads.

"I mean, what you can do is admire the football, we can admire Erling Haaland and Doku, and the finishes we've seen and the Cherki goal, and the Manchester City fans can celebrate behind the goal. But for the rest of us, we're sat there wondering basically what's going to happen. And yeah, it's damaging. It really is, right now."
