The retirement announcement made by Philadelphia Eagles veteran offensive tackle Lane Johnson has left the organization in trouble. The sudden exit in the middle of the season will affect the franchise, as Johnson has played an important role in the organization over his 14 seasons.
The veteran player has helped the Eagles secure two Super Bowl championships and establish themselves as one of the NFL’s most competitive organizations.

Eagles Face Collapse Warning After Lane Johnson Exit
In a recent episode of “The Dan Le Batard Show”, a sports media personality Dave Dameshak, shared his perspective, as he believes that Johnson’s departure will come at a heavy price for the Eagles, and said:
“A couple few thoughts about future Hall of Famer Lane Johnson retiring and the truthiness of the conversations around him this week. First, we all know he’s an all-time great, maybe even the greatest Philadelphia Eagle ever, and the numbers are inarguable. When he’s been in the lineup over the last 14 seasons, Philly’s win percentage is .659, and when he’s been out, it drops to .370%. That’s what we call around here a Jenga piece, as in, if you remove the wrong piece of a Jenga tower, the whole thing implodes. And just like I told you a week ago, and not just because of Lane Johnson, I think Nick Sirianni’s Eagles are going down.
“But let’s be honest, where Johnson or any other allegedly dominant tackle is concerned, you don’t really know who the good offensive linemen are. It’s okay. Most human beings don’t. You just hear what the few people who do have to say about fat guys who lean best on other fat guys.”
“So I guess with that, sorry, Nick Sirianni and Woody Johnson and Jimmy Haslam and Bill Belichick and Deshaun White. You know what? Let’s just start the show. We’ll be right back.”

The timing of Johnson’s departure has complicated the situation even further, as he missed the Eagles’ Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams. The sudden development has forced Philadelphia to adjust its plans much earlier than anticipated.
Johnson’s absence could also put additional pressure on the Eagles’ coaching staff, which must find a way to maintain the team’s offensive stability. Replacing an experienced player like Johnson is not an easy task, particularly when the season is already underway. His understanding of the game and ability to protect the quarterback have made him a valuable part of Philadelphia’s offense. The team will now need other offensive linemen to step up and take on greater responsibilities. It remains to be seen whether the Eagles can overcome this setback and maintain their competitiveness in the coming weeks.
The Eagles faced a disappointing 19-17 loss against the Jaguars in week 5.
