Jaylen Warren had a career day for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

The fifth-year running back out of Oklahoma State put up gaudy numbers in a 34-22 win over the Indianapolis Colts, lifting the Steelers above .500 on the yping season. Warren rushed for 101 yards on 15 carries and caught six passes for 87 yards, including a boundary break for an 80-yard touchdown.

It’s Warren’s fifth year with the Steelers, but arguably the first in which he’s emerged as the team’s every-down back after spending his first three seasons behind Najee Harris on the depth chart, and splitting snaps with Kenneth Gainwell last season. Perhaps that perception has kept Warren from earning much attention, despite out-rushing media darlings like Jonathan Taylor, Bucky Irving, and Christian McCaffrey so far this season.

When asked whether Warren gets a fair shake from the national media after Sunday’s game, Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said he doesn’t, claiming the press has “their favorites” they choose to talk about instead of who’s actually performing on the field.

Q: Should Jaylen Warren be getting more recognition nationally?

Aaron Rodgers: “Yeah … but they have their favorites and people they wanna talk about.” #steelers https://t.co/QsXx3zmfeP

“They have their favorites and people they wanna talk about, so it is what it is,” Rodgers said.

To be fair, Warren did get off to a slow start this season, failing to eclipse 50 yards in either of the first two weeks while splitting carries with Rico Dowdle. Dowdle, however, was injured in Week 2, clearing the stage for Warren to become the Steelers’ feature back.

In the three games since, Warren has rushed for 127, 93, and 101 yards, while also averaging over 50 receiving yards per game during that stretch. If Warren can maintain that pace through the rest of the season, the national media will have no choice but to give him the credit he deserves.
