'By a mile': Jamie Carragher makes Arsenal title prediction after Man City win vs Liverpool

Former Premier League star Jamie Carragher has made his title prediction after Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday evening.

Arsenal returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Leeds United. This put them level and only goal difference behind league leaders Man City.

However, the Cityzens extended the gap to three points once more after a 3-0 triumph over Liverpool, which was aided by Ryan Gravenberch’s unfortunate red card.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Carragher said that he wants a quick resolution on the 115 Premier League charges against Man City after their recent appeal.

The Liverpool legend added that Arsenal and Man City are the two best teams in the division ‘by a mile’ and no one else is expected to compete with them for the title.

He said: “We need a resolution as soon as possible because we’re watching a game and not sure what it actually means going forward and wondering if it even makes any difference to Man City or the title race with Arsenal.

“They’re the two best teams by a mile, we know that, and no one else is really going to compete with them for the title. We want every game to matter, but right now it doesn’t.”

Man City had an even game against the Reds on the road yesterday. Liverpool had plenty of goalscoring chances of their own, but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.

Gravenberch’s sending-off in the 62nd minute eventually changed the momentum. The Cityzens scored three quick goals in just 13 minutes to put the result beyond sight.

With the victory, Enzo Maresca’s side have continued their perfect start to the campaign. They have won every game thus far and have a three-point lead over Arsenal at the top of the league.

The Gunners could potentially be six points behind the Cityzens before Sunday’s trip to Nottingham Forest, given the Mancunian outfit should be favourites to beat Ipswich Town at home on Saturday.

The immediate focus will be on the Champions League. Arsenal host Lille at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow, while Man City entertain reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.
