Ja Morant father jabs Grizzlies after offseason trade

Tee Morant still has a deep appreciation for the city of Memphis, but it seems he no longer feels the same way about the Grizzlies organization

On his Tee'd Up Podcast, the father of Ja Morant openly expressed his true feelings about the offseason trade and the Grizzlies' decision to part ways with the star point guard.

"I don't have a bad thing to say about Memphis, because it wasn't Memphis that traded [Ja], and we don't trade Memphis. It was the organization that felt like they was going down another path, and I guess we didn't belong," the elder Morant said.

"It's no hard feelings, but when we get on that court, you better know it's a reckoning."

Grizzlies parted ways with Ja Morant

Ja Morant was traded by the Memphis Grizzlies to the Portland Trail Blazers back in June.

In exchange for the two-time All-Star, the Grizzlies received forwards Jerami Grant and Kris Murray.

Morant was once the league's most electrifying star who consistently produced highlight-reel plays. However, a plethora of off-court issues, injuries, and the sudden decline of his production forced the Grizzlies to attempt to trade him multiple times dating back to last season.

He was limited to just 20 games last season and averaged 19.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 8.1 assists, shooting 41% from the field.

Morant will face the Grizzlies for the first time on Oct. 29 for the upcoming NBA season.
