The Los Angeles Rams’ resilience throughout Monday’s game against the Buffalo Bills was the only real positive head coach Sean McVay could take away from the heartbreaking loss. Josh Allen and the Bills ultimately overshadowed the combined efforts of Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua. However, the Rams’ star wide receiver has now challenged his teammates to bounce back from the disappointing result.
The loss left the Rams with a 2-3 record to start the season. While speaking with reporters after the game, Nacua shared the importance of quickly recovering from the loss and preparing for their upcoming matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
“Yeah, it's Monday night. We gotta be able to physically and mentally reset by tomorrow and get ready to play back here at home,” Nacua said.
“And we got the Arizona Cardinals, a familiar face coming in with Mike LeFleur, but it's gonna be an opportunity for us to respond and really look ourselves in the mirror and say, what is our identity gonna be? And can't let the Buffalo Bills beat us twice.”
The Rams entered the season with championship expectations after adding Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald. However, their struggles so far have left the team searching for answers.
According to Opta Stats, the Rams became the only team in NFL history to record more than 400 total yards, earn at least 30 first downs, score five or more touchdowns, convert at least 50% of their third downs, commit zero turnovers, and still lose the game.
However, Nacua was certainly not the reason behind the Rams’ defeat. The star receiver delivered an outstanding performance, recording 17 receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown against Buffalo.
A potential source of relief for the Rams is that their next opponent has also struggled to find consistency this season. After opening the campaign with a victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, Mike LaFleur’s team has suffered four consecutive losses.
The upcoming matchup presents an important opportunity for both the Rams and the Cardinals to get back into the win column.
