Chelsea striker Joao Pedro has saluted his teammate Moises Caicedo for allowing the team to enjoy the freedom they enjoy in attack. The Brazilian has been one of the most in-form forwards in the Premier League this season, scoring five goals and grabbing three assists in six games.
Pedro netted twice in the 5-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday. The Premier League clash against the Cherries at Stamford Bridge was the first time Caicedo made an appearance in the starting line-up this season.
The Ecuador international played 72 minutes as the Blues put an end to their three-game winless run in the Premier League. Pedro acknowledged the impact Caicedo makes in defensive midfield for Chelsea. The striker believes his teammate is the best in his position in the world.
Pedro described Caicedo as a 'machine' and insists that the security provided by the midfielder allows the attackers to play with more freedom.
Speaking to JioStar, Pedro stated:
"Moises, for me, he's the best in his position in the world. He's a machine. He covers so much ground in midfield and wins the ball back so many times. That gives the rest of us the freedom to go forward and attack.
"When he is playing, we feel more secure as a team because we know he is there to protect the back four. So that's why he's very important for us.”
Chelsea climbed to sixth in the Premier League table after the big win against Bournemouth. They next face Everton, who sit just above them on goal difference, at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday.
Joao Pedro explains what makes Chelsea star Cole Palmer a 'special' player
Cole Palmer has signed a new contract at Chelsea. The new deal will keep the England international at Stamford Bridge until 2034. Pedro is part of the Premier League's most destructive front-three after pairing up with Palmer and Morgan Rogers this season.
And the Brazilian has highlighted why Palmer is a special footballer. Pedro pointed to how the Englishman can do 'everything' from picking a pass to scoring and banging in free-kicks. He told JioStar:
"Cole Palmer is a beast, he can score, he can pass. He can score from free kicks. He can do everything. He's a complete player and that's what makes him special.
"He scored amazing goals in our matches against Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion. I don't know how he did it but that's just Cole Palmer things and that's why everyone says he's a special player."
Pedro and Palmer have directly combined to score four goals for Chelsea this season.
