Jaissle Declares He Wants "Top, Top Player" To Sign On The Dotted Line With Newcastle

**Newcastle United boss Matthias Jaissle has revealed that he is very keen for Joe Willock to sign a contract extension.**

Besiktas came close to signing the midfielder during the summer transfer window, and club president Serdal Adali [**spoke out**](https://newcastleunitednews.org/blog/newcastle-united-transfer-news-joe-willock/) about the move last week, promising the Turkish club would make another attempt to snap up Willock in January. Asked for his reaction to the comments, Jaissle said:

“Yeah, I hear that every day. I think he’s talking about it also every day. It’s our player. We’re really happy with him, and I think you see that also on the pitch. He’s a top, top player. He can deliver unbelievable performances, and I see even more potential with him, so we are happy that he’s here.”

Willock is out of contract at the end of the season, and when pressed on whether the Magpies are trying to keep him beyond next summer, Jaissle replied:

“Yeah, you can definitely imagine that, with how highly I’m talking about him, so there’s not the worry from our side.”

Willock has found a new lease of life under Jaissle

---------------------------------------------------

There is absolutely no doubt that the former Arsenal player would have left St James’ Park if Eddie Howe had stayed in charge.

However, everyone was given a fresh start by Jaissle, and Willock has repaid him with some excellent performances, having scored 3 goals in his first 7 appearances this season.

Newcastle United need to get the contract sorted soon

-----------------------------------------------------

Even if a move to Besiktas is not revived, Willock will be able to speak directly to any team outside of the UK about a transfer as of January 1st.

It means sporting director Ross Wilson and CEO David Hopkinson must get their act together and ensure a new deal is in place before then.
