NFL thriller marred by disgraceful postgame violence

Los Angeles Rams star Alaric Jackson threw a punch at Buffalo Bills pass rusher Bradley Chubb after their Monday Night Football thriller.

The Bills won 37-34 in overtime as Tyler Bass kicked a game-winning field goal after a dramatic contest.

But tensions flared after the game ended, with ESPN capturing footage of a fight as players shook hands and exchanged jerseys on the field.

Bills defender Chubb could be seen pointing at Jackson from midfield as the Rams player finalized a jersey swap with Deone Walker on the 40-yard line.

Jackson then started marching aggressively towards Chubb in response, confronting the Bills star and getting in his face before throwing a punch with his right hand that knocked Chubb's hat from his head.

Teammates quickly intervened, with Rams tight end Colby Parkinson first on the scene to calm Jackson down along with teammate Shaun Dolac.

Walker also helped drag Jackson away while Greg Rousseau raced over to protect Chubb after seeing what had happened from a few feet away.

An angry Chubb was then dragged away by his collar by Walker as he tried to go after Jackson and continue the conversation.

Canadian offensive lineman Jackson, 28, is in his sixth season with the Rams and won the Super Bowl with the franchise in 2021.

He signed a three-year, $57 million contract extension with the team in 2025 but faced legal issues over the offseason ahead of the new season.

Jackson was accused of attacking his pregnant girlfriend in June but avoided any criminal charges after being arrested on suspicion of domestic battery on June 8.

Police were called to his San Fernando Valley home over an alleged dispute with the 38-year-old woman - who claimed she had been left with 'scratches and bruises'.

However, prosecutors said in July they would not be filing charges against Jackson 'at this time'.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, Ivor Pine, confirmed the news to the California Post.

Pine said: 'This matter has been assigned for a City Attorney Hearing, a pre-filing diversion available to eligible individuals that is an alternative to misdemeanor criminal prosecution.

'Charges are not filed against the respondent at this time, however, the case stays open throughout the length of the statute of limitations. It can be re-evaluated if there are further developments.'

Jackson served a two-game suspension in 2024 under the NFL's personal conduct policy for an undisclosed violation, later linked to him being named in a November 2025 civil lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by a woman alleging he recorded her without consent during sex and refused to delete the video.

The plaintiff claimed the alleged incident occurred in May 2024 and reported it to the NFL. The lawsuit was eventually dismissed in April 2026 after being moved to federal court.
