The Buffalo Bills needed something extraordinary to escape Los Angeles with a victory Monday night. Josh Allen delivered exactly that. The Bills quarterback rushed for 121 yards, threw for another 210 and helped Buffalo survive a remarkable 37-34 overtime victory against the Rams at SoFi Stadium.
The win improved Buffalo to 4-1 and kept the Bills ahead of the New England Patriots in the AFC East standings.
However, this was anything but a routine win. Los Angeles repeatedly challenged Buffalo, with Matthew Stafford throwing for 383 yards and three touchdowns. The Rams generated enough offense to win, but a dramatic special-teams play in overtime changed everything.
For Allen, it became another example of his ability to rescue the Bills when circumstances appear increasingly difficult.
Josh Allen's rushing ability changes everything
Allen completed 12 of 19 passes for 210 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Those passing numbers alone would not necessarily stand out among his most memorable performances. His production on the ground told a different story.
Josh Allen became the first player in NFL history with 200+ passing yards on 20 or fewer pass attempts and 100+ rushing yards on 10 or fewer rush attempts in the same game. https://t.co/MyX5CPFvft

Allen rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown, giving Buffalo an additional offensive weapon that Los Angeles struggled to contain. The quarterback finished with 331 combined passing and rushing yards.
James Cook also delivered an impressive performance, rushing for 111 yards and two touchdowns. However, Cook lost two fumbles, creating opportunities for the Rams to capitalize.
Buffalo needed Allen's versatility to overcome those mistakes.
Bills survive incredible overtime sequence
The game's most dramatic moment came after regulation. Los Angeles had an opportunity to win with a field goal, but Buffalo defensive end Greg Rousseau blocked the attempt. That gave Allen and the Bills another possession.
Buffalo moved into scoring position, and Tyler Bass connected on a 45-yard field goal with 1:55 remaining in overtime. The kick secured a victory that appeared uncertain only moments earlier.
The teams combined for 35 fourth-quarter points, turning an already competitive matchup into one of the wildest games of the young season. Buffalo's defense surrendered 34 points, and the Bills committed mistakes that could easily have resulted in defeat.
Still, they found a way to finish.

The Bills now visit the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday before their Week 7 bye.
Buffalo already suffered one painful divisional loss against New England earlier this month. Monday's victory prevented another setback and kept the Bills in control of their immediate AFC East destiny.
Allen's performance was far from perfect. But his ability to make decisive plays when Buffalo needed them most was once again the difference.
