Chelsea will be looking to maintain their Premier League form after the international break when they travel to Everton on Saturday, and are reportedly interested in signing one of their key players when the transfer window opens again.

Xabi Alonso’s side returned to winning ways with an emphatic 5-1 win over Bournemouth, with 10/10 Jordan Henderson stealing the show in his first Stamford Bridge start.

The additions of the midfielder and Danny Welbeck have proved crucial to the Blues both on and off the pitch, with them joining as part of a new-look transfer policy that saw them add experience to their first team squad.

Chelsea considering signing James Tarkowski

Those successes, as well as the signing of Emi Martinez as their new number one, seems to have convinced the club they should continue looking in this direction, which has seen James Tarkowski’s name be mentioned.

Simon Phillips said on YouTube: “And that brings me to my next link. James Tarkowski from Everton would definitely tick a lot of those boxes in terms of the experience and other bits and pieces. Now, you might say, why am I talking about Tarkowski?

“Basically, I’ve had his name mentioned to me last week, actually, I haven’t put anything out on it yet because I have I’ve been trying to clarify the information. and if there’s actually anything to it.”

The 33-year-old has played in every Everton game so far this season, finding the net once too. He is expected to be one of the first names on the teamsheet when Chelsea visit at the weekend.

Alonso’s current style sees the Blues start with three centre-backs, and the trio who started against Bournemouth (Josh Acheampong, Maxence Lacroix and Levi Colwill) are seen by many as the strongest three.

The likes of Jorrel Hato and Wesley Fofana are deputies, however the set of options is missing a seriously-experienced star who will continue to drive high standards. This could be where Tarkowski proves to be a very shrewd addition.
