Detroit Lions play-by-play announcer Dan Miller's wife, Cynthia “Cindy” Louise Miller, died on Saturday at age 63. They were married for 33 years. She leaves behind four adult children.

Miller, who is also the sports director at WJBK-TV Fox 2, missed his announcing duties for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Born Oct. 3, 1963, in Falls Church, Va., she was described in an obituary on the [Griffin Funeral Home website](https://www.griffinfuneralhome.com/obituary/cynthia-cindy-miller) as "a woman whose magnetic personality, infectious humor, and welcoming spirit made everyone feel like family."

"Cindy had a way of lighting up any room she entered," the obituary said. "Charismatic, funny, fearless, and full of life, she was someone people were naturally drawn to. Her warmth and accepting nature made everyone feel comfortable and included, while her fierce loyalty and protective spirit left no doubt about how deeply she loved those closest to her."

She graduated from the University of Maryland in 1985 and began her career as a news producer, working in the industry for 10 years.

While working at Westwood One Radio Network, a radio network owned by Cumulus Media, she met her future husband, Dan.

She eventually went on to teach for five years as a preschool teacher.

"Cindy embraced life with enthusiasm and found happiness in so many things. She had an enormous love for animals, especially cats, fostering many and welcoming numerous furry companions into her home throughout the years," the obituary said. "Among them, Marvin, her soul cat who greeted her in heaven, and Martha, her 17-year-old adopted dog, held an especially treasured place in her heart."

She enjoyed crocheting, shopping, reading, working on puzzles, attending concerts and listening to music, especially her favorite band, The Killers.

She loved the Lions and attending every game in Detroit, sitting in the fifth row, right behind the team’s bench.

A memorial gathering is set for Friday, Oct. 16, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the L.J. Griffin Funeral Home, Northrop-Sassaman Chapel, 19091 Northville Road (at Seven Mile Road), Northville.

A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Leptomeningeal Cancer Foundation in Cindy’s name.
