Brighton may soon face a familiar challenge, since Luka Vuskovic is drawing serious attention across Europe. His market value has soared in a year. Bayern Munich remain keen on the teenage defender, while Chelsea have joined the race, as per the latest transfer news.
Why Luka Vuskovic is suddenly in demand
As reported by CaughtOffside, a growing list of big clubs is now monitoring Brighton’s centre-back. Barcelona and Bayern Munich are in that group, and Chelsea are following his progress as well. That is considerable attention for a teenager still in his first season at the club, and it shows how highly the leading sides rate his potential.
His loan at Hamburg raised the profile of Luka Vuskovic. He made 28 league appearances there and earned a place in the Bundesliga Team of the Year. His estimated market value reflects that progress, climbing from around €18m to €65m in a year. That is a jump of more than threefold.
He chose Brighton because he wanted regular first-team football, and a crowded defence at Tottenham could not promise it. Spurs still believed he could become one of the best defenders in the world. They felt he was not yet ready to start every week in the Premier League. Brighton paid a fixed £46m, which could reach £50m through add-ons, and Tottenham kept a 20 per cent sell-on clause.
Luka Vuskovic’s stats for Hamburger SV during the 2025/26 season, as per FOTMOB:

Bundesliga 28 6 68% 75% 339 5
DFB Pokal 2 0 72% 77% 18 1
How the race for Luka Vuskovic could unfold
Bayern have followed the defender for a long time, and his Bundesliga season only strengthened their view. Reports suggest he would be receptive to joining the German champions. That shared enthusiasm keeps him high on their shortlist for the summer of 2027, even if no offer is possible right now.
The obstacle is the Bayern squad rather than the price. They want to sell a centre-back before buying another expensive one, so Kim Min-jae and Hiroki Ito are the two names they hope to move on. A January approach looks unlikely, which makes next summer the realistic window. Until room opens up, the German club cannot realistically table a bid.
Barcelona and Chelsea have also scouted him closely, although neither has taken a clear lead yet. For the Blues, the appeal is easy to see. The club has leaned heavily on young talent with years of growth ahead. Real Madrid and Liverpool have also come up in reports, which shows how wide the interest has become.

What this means for Brighton
Brighton are under no pressure to sell Luka Vuskovic. They tied him to a contract until 2031, and that gives them strong control over the asking price. Any buyer will have to pay a substantial fee, especially with the Tottenham sell-on attached. That leverage matters, because Brighton can wait for the right offer rather than react to rumours.
Brighton have built a reputation for selling players at a good price, and rival clubs know it. Even so, Tottenham would take a share of any sale, which narrows the margin the club would normally enjoy from such a deal.
In the meantime, the defender’s task is to keep performing in the Premier League. Another season of regular football could push his value higher still, which gives Brighton every reason to stay patient and hold out for the best price. Whenever a move does come, Luka Vuskovic will have options. Chelsea will need a strong offer to win the race for his signature.
