Jerry Jones Makes Stance Clear On "Embarrassing" Dak Prescott Incident With Cowboys Stadium Driver After Bucs Loss 1

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones defended the right to speak out after a driver yelled “embarrassing” at Dak Prescott following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers loss in Week 5. Jones was himself very angry about the defeat, calling the performance against winless Bucs an “extraordinarily, extraordinarily disappointed” one.

Jerry Jones Backs Free Speech for Fans Involving Dak Prescott

On Thursday night, the Cowboys lost the game. As Prescott walked through the AT&T Stadium tunnel, a car service driver yelled, “Embarrassing.” Prescott looked back, and the driver said, “Heard me, huh?” Prescott turned around, pointed at him, and told someone, “Tough guy, get his a*s out of here.” The driver later said he lost his job over it.

During his weekly radio slot on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday, Jones defended the stadium driver: “I didn’t pay a lot of attention to it. It doesn’t impact me at all,” Jones said. “The driver in question was not an employee. Fans can express themselves and and should express themselves. Whether he was our employee or not, he was a fan it sounds like. So, I’m for our fans expressing themselves.”

Later in his postgame press conference, Prescott addressed the moment, saying, “When he said it, I just happened to look at him, and at that point, he looked away, didn’t look, and then when I turned my head back, he said something else,” Prescott said after the game. “That’s the part that, as a man or as a person, feel free to speak your mind, speak it, but just don’t cower away from the reaction you’re going to get… If you’re saying it’s embarrassing, say it’s embarrassing. If you’re saying it to me, say it to me. Don’t go back on it.”
