Champions League football returns to the Emirates Stadium tonight as Arsenal take on French side Lille, with Mikel Arteta looking to keep the Gunners moving in the right direction in Europe.
After Saturday’s hard-fought victory over Leeds United, attention turns to a different challenge under the lights in North London. European nights always bring something special to the Emirates, and tonight should be no exception.

Arteta’s selection is particularly interesting given the number of players competing for opportunities. With matches coming thick and fast, squad depth and the ability to make an impact from the bench could be just as important as the starting eleven.
A big European night awaits at the Emirates
Lille will arrive determined to cause an upset, but Arsenal know the importance of making home advantage count in the Champions League.
The Gunners will want to impose themselves early, move the ball with purpose and give their supporters something to cheer about.
There is also the intriguing possibility of former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud making an appearance against his old club, adding another dimension to an already fascinating European encounter.
Ultimately, though, the priority is simple: another strong performance and three valuable Champions League points.
