Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has admitted he is hoping for a positive outcome regarding Manchester City and the club's ongoing battle against the Premier League.
MATCH PREVIEW: Manchester City vs PSG (UEFA Champions League)More Videos
The reigning champions of Europe are the latest challenge for Manchester City, who have enjoyed a stellar start to the brand new campaign under Enzo Maresca by winning all of their matches across competitions so far.
The latest of those victories has come in the most testing of circumstances, as City faced the music following the verdict of an independent commission by taking on Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
But despite the supposed hostility and banners of anger from the Merseyside faithful, it was Manchester City who generated the most noise on the field, comfortably securing a 0-3 win and another set of points in the English top-flight.
Second-half goals from Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku, and Rayan Cherki ensured Enzo Maresca's side maintained their 100 per cent record into another game week, although that perfect start will face it's toughest test when PSG visit the Etihad Stadium this week.
Enrique: "I hope it ends well for Man City"
Speaking to the media as Paris Saint-Germain arrived in Manchester on Tuesday evening, Luis Enrique was quizzed on his side's opponents' ongoing situation involving the Premier League - a matter that has dominated recent headlines across the sport.
“There’s always a lot of noise around big clubs. Everyone will have to wait for the final decision from the person who’ll make the decision," Enrique responded.
The Spanish coach continued, "We’ll wait and I hope it ends well for Manchester City because everything that was done on the field has been incredible.
"They’ve deserve to win all the trophies they've won.”
The focus remains firmly on the pitch for City
Despite the positive talk from Luis Enrique and the rare nature of his comments in a sphere of relentless negativity aimed towards Manchester City, those in Sky Blue remain solely focussed on the task at hand.
As Enzo Maresca has mentioned on multiple occasions since returning from the international break, those within the first-team set-up are aware of the fact that they can only affect matters on the pitch.
And while those same figures remain confident in the higher-ups at the Etihad Stadium, ensuring they remain professional and competitive and continue to challenge for the biggest honours remains the sole job.
Wednesday night's meeting with Paris Saint-Germain will be a first opportunity for Manchester City's home support to issue their own response to the verdict of the Premier League, and those in attendance will be boosted by the presence of a club legend.
As previously reported, the most-recent former Manchester City manager and the club's most successful coach, Pep Guardiola is expected to be in attendance with many believing that it is a clear message and showing defiance as well as support for the organisation as a whole.
Beyond the challenge of PSG, City will then return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon as they welcome newly-promoted side Ipswich Town to the Etihad Stadium.
