The New Orleans Pelicans waived forward Caleb Houstan, the team announced Tuesday.
Houstan played in both preseason games.
He played six minutes in the preseason opening win against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He missed the only shot (a 3-pointer) he took. He played just over 15 minutes and went 1-for-4 on 3-pointers in the second preseason game against the Miami Heat.
The 6-foot-8 Houstan was drafted by the Orlando Magic early in the second round out of the University or Michigan. He played his first three seasons with the Magic under current Pelicans coach Jamahl Mosley. He played last season with the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks waived him in April. He has averaged 3.9 points and 1.4 rebounds in his 186 NBA games.

It is the second transaction the Pelicans have made over the last four days. On Saturday, the Pelicans signed forward Jalon Moore.
Moore played on the Pelicans’ Summer League team in July, averaging 6 points and 4 rebounds. Moore averaged 15.9 points and 5.8 rebounds during the 2024-’25 season at the University of Oklahoma. To make room for Moore, the Pelicans waived center Christian Koloko.
