Walker Kessler set for Lakers preseason debut vs. Warriors

Walker Kessler will officially play for the first time as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kessler has missed all three of the Lakers' 2026 preseason games entering Tuesday's match against the Golden State Warriors after sustaining a finger injury.

He reportedly sustained it after jamming his finger against the backboard in one of the team's recent practices.

After fully participating in the team’s Sunday practice and expressing his excitement to return, Kessler is now also cleared to play for the first time since his 2025-26 season was cut short in November due to season-ending shoulder surgery.

Kessler joined the Lakers this past offseason via a four-year, $130 million sign-and-trade deal with the Utah Jazz.

Luka Doncic to rest vs. Warriors

While Walker Kessler will play, Luka Doncic is unavailable on Tuesday for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Per JJ Redick, Doncic will take a rest, insisting the Slovenian superstar isn't dealing with any injury, per Dan Woike of The Athletic.

Doncic's playing status will be monitored heading to LA's final preseason play on Friday against the Denver Nuggets.
