Brandon Miller is reportedly looking to secure a new contract closer to the rookie max extension he is eligible for from the Charlotte Hornets.
"I know that Miller has certainly been seeking more than that deal. That Miller has been seeking close to a max contract," NBA insider Jake Fischer said on Bleacher Report.
" ... I think it's gonna be very challenging for the Hornets to get anywhere below that five-year, $200 million threshold that Miller is seeking."
Brandon Miller seeking closer to rookie max deal in his next Hornets deal?
Brandon Miller is eligible to sign a rookie-scale contract worth up to a maximum of $275 million over five years with the Charlotte Hornets.
Recent reports and projections suggest Miller is negotiating a deal similar to Amen Thompson’s extension with the Houston Rockets. Thompson landed a five-year, $208 million extension in Houston last year.
Miller averaged 20.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game for the Hornets during the 2025-26 regular season. Entering his third year in the league, he is expected to lead Charlotte's new era following the offseason trade departure of LaMelo Ball.
Miller has until Monday at 6:00 PM ET to sign an extension with the Hornets, or he will hit restricted free agency next year.
"A lot of people in the NBA, I've been kind of surprised by, honestly. They think Brandon Miller's got perennial All-Star potential after showing a pretty seamless 20-point-per-game scoring ability over the last season," Fischer stated. "So that's a $40 million player in today's NBA."
