Ty Lue remains supportive of Yuki Kawamura despite the LA Clippers' decision to waive him.

The Clippers coach expressed strong openness to welcoming Kawamura back, but as a member of the San Diego Clippers.

"Very important," Lue said when asked about Yuki Kawamura potentially playing for the Clippers' G League affiliate. "I mean, he's a very good player. I don't think he gets a fair chance or a fair shake a lot because of his height and size, but he's a damn good basketball player.

"He's been able to show us that since he's been here. You saw it the other night in the Toronto game, and he's been very good. So, it'd be good having him around."

Will Yuki Kawamura choose to stay with the Clippers?

The LA Clippers announced on Monday that they had waived Yuki Kawamura.

Kawamura signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Clippers during the offseason and participated in training camp before appearing in two of LA's first preseason games.

After just four minutes of play in the Clippers' preseason debut, Kawamura finished with 10 points on 3-for-4 shooting, four assists, and two steals in 14 minutes of action in the team's 114-106 loss to the Toronto Raptors last Saturday

Despite his Clippers exit, Kawamura is still in a good spot. Assuming no team claims him off waivers, he will continue and join the San Diego Clippers to start the 2026-27 season.

Given Ty Lue's strong words and support, Kawamura could still consider staying with the Clippers organization.
