Report: Liverpool now eyeing ‘irreplaceable’ star to solve Frimpong problem in major transfer…

Liverpool are looking for a right-back ahead of the summer transfer window, and Juventus man Pierre Kalulu is a target according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Reds have shortlisted the Frenchman, who is among the top names on their transfer radar. He could solve the club’s right-back conundrum.

Liverpool have yet to find a suitable replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold after his free-transfer departure in 2025.

The Merseyside club signed Jeremie Frimpong, but he has struggled to make an impact since his £29.5 million switch from Germany.

Conor Bradley looked set to take the mantle from Alexander-Arnold but has been out injured for a while.

In recent games, Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola has deployed Ronald Araujo at right-back. He has been serviceable there, but the Reds could use a specialist.

Enter Kalulu, who started his youth career at right-back before becoming a centre-back. For some time now, he has returned to right-back.

He has won 74 percent of his ground duels in Serie A this term, helping the Italian giants keep three clean sheets.

Last term, he scored two League goals and created 11 big chances.

Interestingly, he is not the only Serie A right-back on Liverpool’s transfer shortlist. They are also interested in AS Roma’s Wesley, but Kalulu appears to be the priority.

However, Juve want to keep him beyond this summer. They are trying to offer the Liverpool target a contract extension as his current deal expires in 2029.

He has been one of the most improved players under Luciano Spalletti, who considers him ‘irreplaceable‘.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will pull the trigger on Kalulu, Wesley, or another target, as they still have plenty of time to consider their next move.

Whatever happens, they need an upgrade on Frimpong, one of the club’s more disappointing additions in recent seasons alongside former teammate Florian Wirtz.
