signed from Rayo Vallecano in the summer, but he has had to wait for his chance. His first Premier League start for the Blues came just before the international break but was a game to forget.

Chavarria and co lost 3-0 to Brentford, but the defender and his teammates were able to bounce back at the weekend after beating Bournemouth 5-1. Chavarria also started that match and put in a great performance, which is backed up by his stats.

Chelsea fans have been talking about the left wing-back’s assist for Joao Pedro’s second goal against the Cherries, which was well-worked. Chelsea rehearsed Chavarria and Pedro’s move during the warm-up before executing it perfectly during the game.

However, his assist was not his only positive contribution during the 90 minutes. Chavarria ran his socks off on the Stamford Bridge pitch.

In fact, following that game, Chavarria is now covering the most distance per 90 minutes (12.4 km) in the Premier League, according to FotMob. It is the kind of stat that Chelsea legend N’Golo Kante would be proud of.

During his days in the Premier League, Kante often led such charts. Since his departure in 2023, Chelsea have not been renowned for being a hard-working team.

By gameweek 33 last season, Chelsea had been outrun by every team in the Premier League! That is an incredible stat. They have shown a lot of improvement this season, though, thanks to individuals such as Chavarria.

Chavarria, Jordan Henderson and Chelsea have already outrun two sides in the current campaign, with the English midfielder covering more distance than any other player during the Bournemouth game. It is an encouraging sign for Xabi Alonso, who clearly has this Chelsea team scoring goals but also working hard, or at least harder than some other recent Chelsea sides.
