Clippers coach gives concerning Brandon Ingram return update

New Los Angeles Clippers wing Brandon Ingram is making progress in his recovery, but head coach Tyronn Lue made it clear that the veteran forward is still not close to returning.

"He's been increasing, he's been ramping up," Lue told reporters on Tuesday. "He's doing a lot more, so just seeing him on the floor, that's a good sign.

"It's still going to take some time, it's going to be a while, but just seeing him on the floor being able to do certain things has been good to see."

Ingram is currently dealing with a partially torn Achilles and was already working his way back from an offseason surgery in May to address ongoing foot and heel pain.

How Brandon Ingram ended up with LA Clippers

Ingram joined Los Angeles in September as the centerpiece of the blockbuster trade that sent Kawhi Leonard back to the Toronto Raptors.

The Clippers received Ingram, Gradey Dick, first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, second-round picks in 2030 and 2033, and a 2027 first-round pick swap in exchange for Leonard.

Ingram is coming off a strong 2025-26 season with Toronto, averaging 21.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists across 77 regular-season appearances.

Last season, he also earned his second career All-Star selection.
