Theo Odaji-Ukueku’s first official game for Arsenal U18s came when he was technically an U15 player as he featured as a right-back against West Bromwich Albion in February 2025.
Now a full-time scholar, Odaji-Ukueku is receiving opportunities to impress in his preferred position of midfield and he is certainly making the most of it.
Having impressed for the U18s against Birmingham in the Premier League Cup last weekend, Odaji-Ukueku was one of a host of first year scholars who were called up to the U19 squad for yesterday’s UEFA Youth League defeat to Lille.
Although Arsenal lost the game, Odaji-Ukueku’s display as a substitute was one of the few positives to take from proceedings as he made good use of his tall frame and also demonstrated his passing ability.
Odaji-Ukueku will hope to establish himself as a regular starter for the U18s in the near future and his cause in that regard will be helped if Teshaun Murisa is involved with the U21s on a more regular basis.
Although there is still much more developing for Odaji-Ukueku to do, he has come a long way since he first started out at Hale End.
The 16-year-old’s aforementioned physical qualities could lead to him getting chances at higher levels earlier than expected and it will be interesting to see how he continues to progress.
