_“Plus, he’s being tipped as an option to solve their issues at right-back, but I don’t think he’s the answer in that respect, for that sort of money they’d want a specialist in that position._
_“I don’t doubt he would be an improvement on what they’ve got and it might be something they look at in the future, but for now I don’t think it’s going to be part of their plans.”_
**Should Liverpool seal Jarell Quansah reunion?**
-------------------------------------------------
Quansah has done well since his departure from Liverpool last year, not only becoming a key man for Leverkusen, but also making himself a firm part of Thomas Tuchel’s plans with England, [playing three times](https://www.whoscored.com/players/430019/show/jarell-quansah) at the 2026 World Cup.
The 23-year-old can shine at both centre-back and right-back, which may appeal to Andoni Iraola, while [Virgil van Dijk](https://liverpooloffside.sbnation.com/2025/1/24/24350839/liverpool-fc-champions-league-virgil-van-dijk-on-jarell-quansah-he-did-well) has lauded his former teammate in the past:
_“He’s a fantastic young player and can only get better. He’s in a great place to learn, and when he gets the opportunity to play, like tonight, he just has to show his qualities and play with confidence. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes because we all make mistakes. He did well.”_
But despite his qualities, Liverpool should avoid a Quansah reunion for now, looking elsewhere for central defensive options who may be less expensive.
He isn’t a guaranteed success if he returns – there was a reason why the Reds were willing to sell him – and there may be someone else more suited out there.
