“Gave Me Everything” – Moises Caicedo Reflects on Three Special Years at Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has hailed his time at Stamford Bridge as a great journey, saying the club has helped him in every area. The 24-year-old Ecuador international opened up about his spell in West London in comments relayed by the club’s official website.

Caicedo joined the Blues from Brighton & Hove Albion in August 2023 for a reported £100m fee, which could increase to £115m with add-ons. The deal was a British record when it was completed, and the midfielder has flourished since arriving. Speaking about his time at the club, Caicedo said:

“It has been a great journey for me, more than three special years at one of the best clubs in the world. I’m just enjoying trying to do everything for this club, because they gave me everything. They helped me in every way.”

The comments follow his return to the pitch after a calf injury which kept him out for the majority of the early part of the season. He played only 14 minutes against Brighton in August before being substituted and forced to spend several weeks on the sidelines.

Caicedo made his first start of the 2026/27 campaign in Saturday’s 5-1 win over Bournemouth. He played alongside Jordan Henderson in midfield, with Xabi Alonso later pointing to how important it was for the Ecuadorian to get game time.

The 24-year-old has made 148 appearances for the Blues in his first three seasons, scoring eight goals in all competitions. He also played a key role in winning the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup in 2025, and was named the club’s Player of the Season for 2024/25.

Caicedo signed a contract extension in April 2026, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2033. Chelsea currently sit sixth in the Premier League with 10 points from six games and will host Tottenham Hotspur in their next league match.

Antonio Valencia: “I’d Bring in a Player Like Moises Caicedo”

Former Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia has called on his old club to sign Moises Caicedo. The Ecuadorian spent a decade at Old Trafford but made the comments in an interview with Spanish outlet AS. Valencia feels United need to make more signings in order to improve after a poor start to the season, saying:

“This year the team has struggled a bit. I think they still need two or three more signings for United to be able to do better.

“I’d sign another midfielder. I’d bring in a player like Moises Caicedo, keeping it local (laughs).”

However, a move seems unlikely. Chelsea has no intention of selling Caicedo to a direct rival. Manchester United have also signed Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this summer, so they don’t have a strong need for another midfielder.
