Everton could be in for plenty of change in the next few months, both managerially and at a boardroom level, with one man who may win being Hayden Hackney.

There is a general feel around Everton that David Moyes has done all he can and that, despite being unbeaten this season, the next step won’t be reached unless he is replaced as the manager of the club.

This has resulted in Moyes being linked to Celtic, which would make sense, but there isn’t any danger of it happening immediately. It is more long-term, potentially even under new owners, that a change is anticipated.

According to reports, Amanda Staveley is a contender to buy Everton, which could start a chain reaction that results in Eddie Howe as club boss.

What is your message to The Friedkin Group as they put the club up for sale? 😳

Well said Terry how's the golf Going

The problem is if you are the owners of a football club you have to keep a eye on your bank account

Just wonder if any of them could break into one of the top spots this season. Would really love to see that. 👍

Eddie Howe appointment would be great for Hayden Hackney

There is a chance that Staveley makes a move to appoint Howe if she is successful in purchasing Everton, considering the two will have a strong relationship from their time at Newcastle.

If the former Bournemouth and Newcastle man arrives, Hayden Hackney could be the big winner, having struggled early in his life at the Hill Dickinson Stadium for Everton. However, under the tutelage of Howe, Hackney could really kick on, as history shows.

Hayden Hackney minutes in the Premier League this season

Vs. Crystal Palace – 79 minutes

Vs. Bournemouth – 28 minutes

Vs. Manchester United – 15 minutes

Vs. Tottenham – 15 minutes

Vs. Ipswich Town – 1 minute

Vs. Hull City – 12 minutes

Hackney’s one start this season was on opening day as he played well in a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace but has since seen his game-time drop off a cliff.

But under Howe, this would change as the coach has often been an excellent midfield manager, helping players improve and become top class. He did amazing work with Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Joelinton, Lewis Miley and others.

Interestingly, there have been a handful of comparisons between Elliot Anderson and Hackney, who Howe has admitted he wishes he had more time to work with and could now have a chance to show what he would have done with him, using Hackney.

Howe’s preferred 4-3-3 shape would also be a positive for Hackney as it is another midfield role for him to fill in opposed to the 4-2-3-1 Moyes deploys which limits where Hackney can fit in.

Eddie Howe would be immense for Everton

While Moyes is doing a great job this season for Everton, long term there is probably going to be a change, especially if new ambitious owners arrives with designs on playing more progressive football, Howe would tick that box.

The style that Howe deploys suits the ‘underdog’ as he has always coached quick, counter attacking teams with dynamic football and also a strong defence, which suits Everton and could inspire a kick on into the top four.

Howe would require backing from the board though, he is unlikely to settle for the half-hearted recruitment Everton have become known for over the past couple of years.

If it can be done and the club are serious about kicking on, Howe is the one to go for.
