Arsenal have been handed a clear picture of what it would take to prise Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott away in the upcoming transfer window.
According to BBC Sport, Bournemouth are open to selling England midfielder Alex Scott in January under certain conditions.
They are willing to sanction a sale if an offer of about £100 million arrives in January.
Their position in the Premier League table will also play a crucial role in determining whether Scott is allowed to leave.
If Bournemouth find themselves embroiled in a relegation battle, they are expected to resist any attempt to prise the midfielder away during the January window.
Scott was a top target for Arsenal during the summer transfer window but their approach was rebuffed by the Cherries.
Arsenal must resist the temptation to sign Scott
The 23-year-old rose to prominence after a superb 2025–26 season, during which he excelled at the heart of Bournemouth’s midfield.
His performances put him firmly on the radar of several top-flight sides, but the Cherries made their stance clear by insisting that he was not for sale.
They wanted him to sign a new contract and were also ready to include a release clause.
However, Scott has turned down all proposals to extend his contract so far.
This has forced Bournemouth to rethink their strategy and change their transfer stance.
The Gunners signed two quality Premier League stars, Bruno Guimaraes and Ezri Konsa, over the summer.
Their midfield already boasts considerable depth, with Guimaraes, Declan Rice, Mikel Merino and Martin Zubimendi offering Arteta several high-quality options.
Myles Lewis-Skelly has also impressed in the midfield pivot this campaign.
Even if Zubimendi departs next summer, Arsenal have enough quality in their current squad to avoid making a panic purchase in the middle of the park.
Instead of committing a staggering £100m to Scott, the Gunners would be better served directing those funds towards strengthening their attack.
