Bournemouth boss Marco Rose issues Alex Scott update

Bournemouth have reportedly agreed to let midfielder Alex Scott leave in the next transfer window, subject to certain conditions.

Liverpool are among the clubs interested in the 23-year-old, while Chelsea are also said to be monitoring his situation. The Blues reportedly had a €60million offer rejected during the summer, and Scott’s market value may have risen further following his England debut during the latest international break.

England manager Thomas Tuchel handed Scott 90 minutes across two matches, underlining his growing reputation. The midfielder has also impressed at club level, registering one goal and two assists in six appearances for Bournemouth this season.

However, the Cherries have struggled for results, collecting just three points from their opening six matches to sit 18th in the table.

Reports suggest Scott could be allowed to leave in January if Bournemouth are clear of the relegation zone after the first half of the season, although their asking price could prove a stumbling block for Liverpool.

Bournemouth head coach Marco Rose has insisted that Scott remains committed to the club despite growing speculation over a potential January exit.

Asked about those reports, Rose said on Scott: “We just closed the other transfer window and we’re now talking about the next one.

“We are just focused on the game [against Sturm Graz] and the upcoming game in the Premier League – and not commentating on rumours that show up right after the last transfer window closes.

“It’s not frustrating anyway for us. I told you that Alex Scott was going to stay in the summer. We got questions after questions in press conferences for I don’t know how many weeks.

“He’s a player of our club and now he’s injured, we are looking forward to having him back in a couple of days and weeks and we’ll continue with Alex Scott. And he’s quite committed, everyone can see it from the first games [of the season].”

Scott has developed into one of the Premier League’s most complete young midfielders. The Englishman is the engine of Bournemouth’s midfield and has built a strong reputation in recent years, with the potential to become one of Europe’s best.
