Los Angeles Clippers waive young forward to round out roster

The Los Angeles Clippers have waived forward Cam Christie to manage their roster of 15 guaranteed contracts. The decision came just before his $2.3 million deal became fully guaranteed. However, Christie remains two-way eligible, leaving the door open for the Clippers to potentially retain him.

The Los Angeles Clippers are waiving their former second-round pick forward, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

Per Charania, the Clippers waive Cam Christie as they now have 15 guaranteed contracts on their roster.

The Los Angeles team made the move right before the player's contract was about to become guaranteed at $2.3 million. According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, Christie is two-way eligible, which means the Clippers could keep him around.

Christie's Los Angeles stint

Cam Christie arrived at Los Angeles as the 46th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, selected by the Clippers themselves.

In his first season he only played 13 games, averaging 1.4 points and 0.9 rebounds. Christie got more opportunities by his second year with 55 games played and averages of 2.8 points and 1.4 rebounds.

The forward performed much better in the G League for the San Diego Clippers by averaging 13.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists across 15 games in his first year with the team.

He played only two games his second season, averaging 11 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists.

Before coming to the NBA, Christie played one year in college for the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
