Mikel Arteta is under no illusions that Arsenal have a tough task on their hands when they travel to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Sunday.

‌

Under the Spaniard's reign, the Gunners have won just one of their five trips to the City Ground with the only victory coming back in January 2024.

‌

The last two visits to Forest ended in goalless draws and Arsenal are keen to continue building momentum after sticking a combined five goals past Leeds and Lille in the past two matches.

‌

Arteta was keen to point out the difficulty of the match when quizzed on next week's match against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, hinting he's not overlooking Oliver Glasner's side.

He said: "Yeah, I think the beautiful challenge is going to be against Forest away and we need to make sure we are ready for that one."

Thankfully, Martin Zubimendi could well be back to bolster the numbers and Arsenal are hardly short of options. David Raya will start in goal after keeping a clean sheet against Lille.

In defence, Ben White should start at right-back even though Jurrien Timber was excellent on Tuesday when he netted the opener.

‌

The Gunners need to manage the Dutchman's fitness carefully following such a long spell on the sidelines and White will be fresh after coming off the bench against Lille.

At centre-back, Ezri Konsa and Gabriel Magalhaes are expected to start with Riccardo Calafiori returning to the fold at left-back.

In midfield, Declan Rice and Bruno Guimaraes should start together, meaning Myles Lewis-Skelly may have to settle for a place on the bench.

‌

Guimaraes struggled at Brighton before the international break but has been superb in the past two matches having netted the winner against Leeds.

In attack, things get more tricky. Bukayo Saka will definitely play on the right following his goal and assist from the bench against Lille.

‌

Martin Odegaard is also fresh after being rested against the French side (he was a second-half sub like Saka) while on the left, Noni Madueke should get the nod ahead of Eberechi Eze.

Eze scored against Lille and showed clear signs of improvement but Madueke has credit in the bank as he's played well in each of the past two games.

Up top, it's a straightforward decision to bring Kai Havertz back in for Viktor Gyokeres, who endured a tough evening on Tuesday - only touching the ball 13 times in total.

Subs will still be key and the likes of Lewis-Skelly, Eze, Gyokeres and Max Dowman could all get minutes from the bench, particularly with that trip to Bayern Munich on the horizon.

Possible Arsenal XI vs Nottingham Forest: Raya; White, Konsa, Gabriel, Calafiori; Rice, Guimaraes; Saka, Odegaard, Madueke; Havertz.
