**Liverpool have signed one of the best in the world, and this is really exciting.**
Julian Ward has become the latest to spearhead the difficult role of balancing the Reds' recruitment. Ward replaces Richard Hughes, who while signing a lot of exciting players, didn't make Liverpool a stronger team.

Ward also arrives on the back of a previous stint doing this exact same role between 2022 and 2023.
Back then, Ward resigned and left his job after disagreements with Jurgen Klopp. Now he has free rein to do however he wishes, and it's going to be interesting to see what direction the club will head towards.
Liverpool will need to get back to being one of the best in the business. That is a title they have lost over the last few years.
Liverpool's plans to return back to the top

On the paper, the club's is a mess. But Ward does have exciting foundations.
In Jeremy Jacquet Liverpool have secured one of the best young defenders on the planet. Bradley Barcola is an exciting winger, and Alexander Isak is one of the best forwards in the Premier League.
Rio Ngumoha is regarded by far as one of the most exciting young prospects in the country.
Meanwhile, there's also Dominik Szoboszlai, who is being primed to become the future captain of the Reds.
Not to mention Hugo Ekitike will be returning very soon and he is a big fan favourite. Now on top of that you have Victor Munoz, who is quickly becoming a fan favourite.
And then there are the signings for the future.
Liverpool sign future best in the world, coach has confirmed it
---------------------------------------------------------------
Over the course of the last year or so, Liverpool have become aggressive in the youth market. This was something Ward had played a key role in.
Since the summer of 2025, Liverpool have secured future talents like Armin Pecsi, Will Wright, Mor Talla Ndiaye, Samuel Martinez, Lucca Brughmans and Djylian N'Guessan.
The best of the lot might be Ifeanyi Ndukwe, who showed just how special of a player he is in pre-season.
Now, he's gone out on loan to Levante where he made his first start for the club over the weekend, and scored a last-minute equaliser.
Speaking after the game in his press conference, the Levante coach Luis Castro confirmed he believes the Liverpool new signing can be one of the best centre-backs in the world.
"He’s been good. There were more collective mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes, but he’s shown great mentality. He hasn’t backed down and has won many duels. The goal is deserved... After a mistake like that, nobody plays the way he did. If he continues to recover normally, he can be one of the best in his position," Castro said.
That is exactly what you want to hear.
