Liverpool beat LASK 6-3 and Barcola scored his first career hat-trick! 🤯 What were your main takeaways? 👀 Is it a worry to concede three?

I was so Happy with the performance and then we just concede three simple goals to show you cant get too excited

So pleased for Koumas. Has proved he can have a real impact this season in last two games 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Defence

Alisson Becker: 5 – Made his first real save with a good one at his near-post on the hour. Couldn’t do anything about any of the goals, but a couple of really poor clearances did put a slight dampener on his display.

Jeremie Frimpong: 8 – Did brilliantly to get the run on his man and win a header at the back post to make it 4-0 and also allowed Barcola to complete his hat-trick with a perfect ball to the back post. Then anticipated well to nick the ball and set up Lewis Koumas. One goal, two assists, exactly what he needed.

Ronald Araujo: 7 – Deserved his first Liverpool goal having gone close just before. Ultimately got up to win a good header in a crowning moment for his hard work since joining on loan from Barcelona. Rightly taken off on the hour having played a lot of football recently.

Jeremy Jacquet: 7 – Looked so assured while playing in Virgil van Dijk’s left-sided centre-back role, strolling through the game. It said everything that the Reds looked far worse when he and Araujo came off.

Kostas Tsimikas: 8 – Wearing the captain’s armband competitively for the first time, this was arguably Tsimikas’ best ever performance for Liverpool. Two assists from two crosses told part of the story, but his all-round game – especially defensively to deal with a couple of dangerous balls to the back post – was much improved too.

Midfield

Trey Nyoni: 8 – For those aching to see Nyoni start matches in the Premier League, this was more evidence as to why. Ran the game from deep, breaking the lines with his passing and putting a foot in where needed. Very impressive.

Ryan Gravenberch: 7 –Gravenberch was Liverpool’s best player against Man City and though he didn’t hit those heights on Wednesday, the Dutchman was good once again. Drove forward well with the ball and complemented

Florian Wirtz: 7 – Started well and it was super to see him set Barcola up for his second of the night, but Wirtz did fade from the game after that. A positive night overall, but if you’re being critical you probably want slightly more in a match Liverpool were winning comfortably for so long.

Attack

Rio Ngumoha: 8 – There has been some suggestion that Ngumoha is not suited to playing on the right in Iraola’s system, but the 18-year-old ended that debate on Wednesday. Ngumoha was brilliant right from the get-go against LASK, taunting the back line by going inside and out. Made the second goal with a great run into the box. Did fade a little and will have been disappointed not to get on the scoresheet, but a hugely positive display nonetheless.

Lewis Koumas: 7 – Found the net three times, with three good finishes, and will have been delighted that the last one stuck. Worked hard and also picked up an assist for some good footwork to set Barcola up. Did his chances of playing more no harm at all.

Bradley Barcola: 9 (Man of the match) – A perfect night for Barcola who finally showed Liverpool supporters what he’s all about. The first was a well-taken snapshot, the second a lovely touch and finish and the third a good backpost run which he tapped home. Away from the goals the Frenchman was lively and unpredictable on the ball, and it was fantastic to see him up and running.

Substitutes

Virgil van Dijk: 3 – Not used to coming on as a substitute and could not adapt to the pace of the game for the final half hour. At the scene of the crime for the LASK goal and gave it away poorly on the halfway line soon after. The back line should not fall apart so spectacularly with the captain on the pitch. But it did, and that is a massive worry.

Joe Gomez: 3 – Part of a defence which capitulated and looked all at sea for the final half an hour. Like Van Dijk, looked like he came on for a job about and to collect his appearance fee.

Victor Munoz: 5 – As ever, the Spaniard gave Liverpool an out ball when he came on. Made a couple of good runs which came to nothing.

Luke Chambers: N/A – On for his first appearance of the season.

Alexis Mac Allister: N/A – On to shore things up.
