Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has admitted that he misses Mohamed Salah at the club, but believes the club has to keep pushing forward after his departure.

It follows the winger calling time on his nine-year stay at Anfield in the summer, with a frustrating season closing out his otherwise successful and impressive spell on Merseyside.

With over 440 appearances to his name, 257 goals and 123 assists in that time, Salah helped transform Liverpool from a nearly team to eventual winners at the very top of the game. While many believe the side should have won more, the Egyptian King walked away with nine trophies picked up, alongside a whole host of individual accolades.

While there was a downturn in form last season, there is still a clear challenge for the Reds to find that natural successor to the star, in more ways than one.

With Salah, Liverpool is having to replace his output, alongside his experience and the talismanic nature he had to turn games around at an instant. Those are not easy things to find on the transfer market, and they certainly aren't cheap either, with no guarantee of success.

While the Reds will be hoping that one of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, or Bradley Barcola can step up to the plate after big-money moves, there is still the feeling that the team is missing the winger at his very best.

With Alisson among the few who were there throughout the journey that are still at Anfield, he has reflected on the change without having his experienced teammate alongside him.

Speaking to ESPN, the goalkeeper was asked whether he misses Salah, as well as someone like Neymar who recently left the Brazilian national team setup. He responded: "Of course, all these players brought and bring great benefits when they play in their clubs or national teams.

"And while they play, they'll always bring benefit. But it goes on. Brazil, Liverpool. Liverpool is a great team, we hired new players and already have a very good squad here. Brazil is also still renewing. So things move on.

"Obviously, we have a nostalgic spirit, those who love football have a nostalgic spirit, so they'll always look at the beautiful moments those players gave their fans. And we will always miss them and want to relive those moments."

It shows the challenge that Liverpool has in trying to move on from Salah, knowing that the team has to keep finding results without him, while also upholding the legacy that he leaves behind.

While the Reds are still in an awkward phase of trying to get it right in a post-Salah era, the 34-year-old has hit the ground running in his first few weeks at his new club, Trabzonspor.

The forward continues to break records, getting ten goal involvements in his first seven league games for the team, showing that he can still be at the very top of the game.

While it remains to be seen how things will pan out for both parties in the weeks and months ahead, there may still be the sense that both will miss each other.
