Jeremy Jacquet raised concerns of a fresh injury after being taken off with half an hour left to play during Liverpool’s 6-3 win over LASK on Wednesday.

The French defender was excellent once again in the Champions League, starring in Virgil van Dijk’s left centre-back position alongside Ronald Araujo in Linz.

However, with TNT Sports commentators spotting that Jacquet had been signalling to the bench just before being replaced by Van Dijk, there had been some worry that he may have suffered a recurrence of the issue he sustained during the last international break. Thankfully, Andoni Iraola made no mention of a fitness problem after the game, instead confirming that he had taken both Jacquet and Araujo off with one eye on the busy fixture schedule.

Here's our player ratings! Who deserves higher or, perhaps, even lower? 🤔

### Liverpool’s Champions League player ratings vs LASK as Bradley Barcola runs riot in Linz

Rio, Koumas and Barcola all deserve to go up a number in my opinion, was a top class display up there, didn’t give that defence a second to relax

Liverpool seem to have a handful of players who are world class in Europe yet struggle in the Prem

Van Dijk deserved lower than a 3 in my opinion. Hard to rate the two full-backs as well, both did brilliantly but let themselves down a bit with the last two goals

No fresh injury concern for Jacquet

After Iraola took his centre-back pairing off, Liverpool looked unusually sloppy at the back and went on to concede three times.

Fans were left frustrated by the performances of Van Dijk and Joe Gomez, who looked like big downgrades on Jacquet and Araujo, who had looked like a solid partnership.

Given how negatively they had impacted Liverpool, Iraola was understandably asked about the changes at full-time, admitting that he ordinarily wouldn’t have taken them both off at once.

“I think there’s a reason why we managers don’t change both centre-backs together,” the Liverpool head coach told LFCTV.

“But you are winning 4-0, and you have to start thinking about the next game. Brentford away is very hard and I think Ronald and Jeremy deserved to save their energy, to save their legs.

“It’s not easy for the ones to come in straight away to a game, but I wouldn’t like this to overshadow a little bit all of the positives that we had today.”

Though Jeremie Frimpong was much-improved against LASK, Araujo is likely to move back to right-back for Saturday’s match, while Jacquet will almost certainly start next to Van Dijk.

This was another good day at the office for a player who has become a staple of the Liverpool XI, and it sounds like he will be absolutely fine to go again in three days’ time.
