Many eyes are on Thierno Barry at Everton, and the striker has now shared what has changed for him in 2026/27 following a bright start.

Thierno Barry has scored six goals in eight games across all competitions so far, which is certainly a respectable haul. However, it doesn’t tell the full story – Barry has also missed 10 big chances in the Premier League, which has brought him some criticism.

Everton fans remain quite divided about Barry despite his record this season, and it will be on him to get more consistent in order to get more people onside

But there’s no denying he is looking more and more at home in the English top-flight, and Barry has now revealed what the biggest change has been for him coming into this campaign.

What’s your honest position on Thierno Barry at the moment? 10 big chances missed in the PL, but six goals across all competitions. It's fair to say he divides opinion at Everton, but Dewsbury-Hall is a fan…👀

Yet to be convinced by him. Hes doing alright but still very wasteful. Id love to see a more experienced striker to help him even if it was someone like Big Dunc brought in to help with his training.

Yeah he’s well on course to smash last season’s numbers. Lots to like, just needs that conviction and consistency doesn’t he

He will smash kastvyears stats and moving forward will improve…..they all miss chances

Thierno Barry points to mindset shift after bright start for Everton

For Barry the improvements this season have simply come down to a change in mindset. He said in a video on the Footballer Fits YouTube channel: “Last season was a really tough season for me. But, I came with a new mindset.

“I worked a lot this summer. And yeah, so now I think we have seven games. I score five goals, one assist. So, of course it’s better than last season.”

Barry stated that chilling with his friends over the summer, and working with people like his physio and a psychologist has helped him to achieve this mindset shift.

Interestingly, Barry also said the biggest lesson he has learned since coming to England is to have more patience, knowing that he can at times be too hard on himself.

The video was filmed before the game with Hull, against whom Barry scored his sixth of the season. That was a terrific finish, and came after he had missed a couple of golden chances, including a cross from Jarrad Branthwaite that went through his legs.

At the moment, he is still lacking a bit of conviction. Certainly, he should have more than six goals to his name based on the chances he has had.

But he is at least working very hard, which was clear from a video he put up on his own YouTube channel a few weeks ago. That video showed Barry having individual coaching sessions and it really highlighted the pressures that come with being a Premier League striker.

Barry showed his vulnerable side, which helped fans to understand him a bit more. At the end of that video though he spoke about knowing what he needed to do in pre-season, and clearly he’s been putting the work in.

By no means is he the finished article and it could yet take years for him to reach his true potential. But there have definitely been improvements in his overall game, and hopefully with the support of his coaches, teammates and the fans, Barry will turn out to be a top acquisition.
