Liverpool continues to be linked with a potential transfer for Alex Scott, as the midfielder looks set for an exit from Bournemouth in the near future

Liverpool's chances of signing Alex Scott have been boosted this winter, as it appears as though the midfielder will be free to leave Bournemouth in the coming months.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to Anfield, which would see him follow the path of Andoni Iraola after the manager switched the south coast for the north-west during the summer.
Scott became a key part of the Bournemouth team that had continued to improve season after season under the head coach, quickly adapting to the intense style of play that had been developed with the Cherries, resulting in European qualification before the change in the dugout.
The England international played over 80 times for Iraola, meaning any move to Liverpool would make sense to help bring balance to the midfield, while already knowing the demands of the manager and his style of play.
That has always been dependent on the decision from Bournemouth to sell the star, something that up until this point has seemed unlikely. However, that stance may well have softened, as Scott has now officially entered the final two years of his contract with the Cherries.
The club has pushed to get a new deal sorted, which could have included a release clause, but that is now appearing to be an unlikely route that will be taken.
Sky Sports reports that Scott has continued to refuse the option of a new contract, which will prompt Bournemouth to consider a "big offer" if it arrives in the January transfer window.
The exact fee that would be accepted is unclear, though anything in excess of £80 million ($106 million) plus potential add-ons will have to be considered by the club. That is only if relegation from the Premier League isn't viewed as a serious possibility, after a difficult start to the season.

The report claims that Liverpool retains a "serious interest" in the midfielder, which could see the Reds pounce in January, while rival Chelsea is also in the same situation.
Other clubs, such as Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham, had previously shown interest in a switch, but after strengthening the central ranks in the summer, it's unclear if such a move would be possible, especially in the winter market.
It sets up an interesting few months for Scott and Bournemouth, though the star will have to watch on for the next few weeks while his teammates play without him, due to an injury that will keep him out for roughly eight weeks.
For Liverpool, one of the main questions will surround whether the hierarchy is able to invest what is likely to be a huge sum of money into a player at a difficult point in the market.
It's the type of deal that could throw the summer business forward into January, but it will all depend on the finances and the desire of the player to make such a move happen.
It remains to be seen what will continue to unfold, with just over two months remaining until the transfer window opens again, with clubs able to put the groundwork in now to see if a deal is possible.
