Martin Odegaard has made a better start to this season than he did last term, showing on several occasions that he can remain an important player for Arsenal. The Norwegian midfielder has looked more influential, giving the Gunners encouragement as they seek to get the best out of their captain.
Arsenal regard Odegaard as one of the leading players in their squad. His creativity and leadership make him an important part of Mikel Arteta’s plans, and the club are not considering letting him leave at this stage.
Arsenal want to keep their captain
Odegaard’s role extends beyond his contributions in midfield. As captain at the Emirates, he provides leadership and stability, qualities Arsenal value as they continue to build a team capable of competing for major honours.
The club are keen to keep him for the long term, and a new contract is reportedly being considered. Arsenal have invested in maintaining continuity within the squad, and retaining a player who remains central to their plans would fit that approach.

Contract discussions could follow Arteta deal
According to Football Insider, keeping Odegaard is viewed as a priority following the agreement that will keep Arteta as Arsenal manager until 2030. The report says the club now intends to focus on securing the midfielder’s future as well.
The former Real Madrid player remains an important figure for the Gunners, and Arsenal are reportedly prepared to do what they can to ensure he stays. Their intention is to reach an agreement that would extend his time at the club.
No new deal has been confirmed, and the timing will depend on whether the two sides can agree on the terms. However, the reported plan underlines Arsenal’s desire to retain Odegaard rather than allow uncertainty over his future to develop.
For now, the midfielder remains part of Arteta’s plans, and his improved start to the season gives the club further reason to value his contribution. If negotiations progress smoothly, Arsenal will hope to secure his commitment for the years ahead.
