Report - Dramatic u-turn: Club ready to agree deal with Liverpool

**One club is now ready to agree a deal with Liverpool and it could happen as soon as January. The Reds are nearing a new signing.**

Liverpool are looking to boost their midfield heading into next season - or potentially the second half of this one. It’s something that simply has to happen as the Reds have managed to create a wildly imbalanced group here.

In truth, the club have long-term issues at both full-back positions, the right-wing and at centre-back. But it’s in midfield that things are arguably the most pressing. Liverpool essentially have a group of attacking midfielders and little ability to control games through possession or off the ball.

And so we do expect a move for a midfielder, potentially an expensive one. The control has been lacking all season, much as it was throughout Arne Slot’s reign in charge.

So with that in mind, Liverpool have been given a green light to get a deal done.

Alex Scott can leave

[Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/13599539/alex-scott-transfer-news-bournemouth-will-consider-offers-in-excess-of-lb80m-for-england-international-amid-refusal-to-sign-new-contract) report that Liverpool are serious contenders for Bournemouth’s Alex Scott. The midfielder is now in his final 18 months on his contract with the Cherries and attempts to renew his deal have failed.

It’s reached the point where, per the report, Bournemouth are finally accepting that they’ll have to sell. It would take a bid ‘in excess’ of £80m but they’d accept something in that range, even in January.

Liverpool, then, have their green light. Scott is there to be signed if they truly want him and we imagine the next couple of months will involve figuring that one out. But they won’t be alone in that.

Chelsea are also known admirers, of course, as Scott is a professional footballer and they simply must sign those. They also didn’t sign a replacement for Enzo Fernández, who joined Manchester City at the end of the transfer window.

Liverpool can say the same about Curtis Jones, though, and we feel it’ll be between the two clubs for Scott’s signature. The one willing to commit the most in January may be the one to land him, too.

A proper transfer battle looks set.
