Dan's EPL Predictions
Another weekend of Premier League football awaits, and it’s time for Dan’s latest round of predictions.
Arsenal travel to Nottingham Forest looking to keep the pressure on at the top.
With European commitments, some unpredictable results and the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Manchester City, there’s plenty to discuss.
So, where might we see a surprise this weekend?
Here’s how Dan sees the ten games playing out.
Everton 2-2 Chelsea
This is where Chelsea have the advantage of preparing for one game a week.
The Toffees are one of 3 teams yet to lose in the Prem this season, but I still doubt if David Moyes sets up to win games like this rather than not to lose.
Brentford 2-1 Liverpool
As I write this, it’s not clear if Isak, Gapko or Szoboszlai will be fit to play Saturday.
Iraola still has a couple of players to choose from who cost over 100 million, so in these situations they need the likes of Wirtz to step up.
Barcola getting a Champions League hat-trick could be helpful.
Fulham 1-0 Hull
A defeat to Ipswich means the Cottagers are 7 points behind the Tractor Boys.
Lose on Saturday and they will be 10 points away from another newly promoted team.
It was always a gamble to employ Arbeloa. His next two games are against clubs who were in the Championship last season. Lose to either and I think his job could be on the line.
Man City 4-0 Ipswich
On the pitch, I didn’t think the charges would impact the current Man City squad.
Off the pitch, their fans are acting like they are the wronged party fighting against the odds.
The irony being they’re the ones who will suffer long term if the appeal fails.
Maybe supporters trust their club to prove their irrefutable evidence?
Or, more likely, do they assume the best lawyers in the world are being paid to drag this case on and on until a loophole is found?
I should be giving Maresca credit for wins at Old Trafford and Anfield but don’t know if those victories count for anything?
I should be worried that a home triumph Saturday sends Arsenal to the City Ground 6 points behind the league leaders, yet we could find out next year the Sky Blues are not in the title race.
It’s no exaggeration to say every week each Citizen fixture could be pointless.
Are they challenging for an 8th Premiership or will it be announced that they are essentially relegated?
Do we then wait for them to appeal against any sanctions?
Making all of this a waste of time.
It’s not their fans’ fault and many defend their team no matter what, but they have acted with so little grace that if this blows up in their face, I want Gooners to remember the inflatable bananas, the Ponza and all those smug faces.
Newcastle 3-2 Aston Villa
Both sides are struggling for consistency, so because of home advantage and having a week to prepare, I’ll go for the Toon.
I do think Manzambi and Jackson are turning into good signings though.
Cherries 3-0 Sunderland
The question mark for both these two teams will be how their small squads can juggle Europe with their domestic schedules, so both will be grateful they are playing each other and not a side who have had a week’s rest.
Yet it’s the Black Cats who are in Portugal on Thursday, then have to make their longest away trip in the league down to the south coast.
Brighton 2-0 Palace
We know the Seagulls are currently more confident than the Eagles, and one being at home in Europe on Thursday compared to the other being in Lyon could be the difference in this derby that is not a derby.
Fabian Hurzeler has more options as well in terms of rotating his squad, although it’s massive for Pierre Sage that a compromise seems to have been reached with Ismaila Sarr.
Leeds 1-0 Man United
It was surreal watching Man United last weekend.
It takes a lot for a home crowd to start booing after 25 minutes when a game is goalless.
That means those at Old Trafford were not jeering about the scoreline, but they are simply not entertained.
This has been an issue for a while, but it’s not clear what the Red Devils’ identity is.
This is a fixture fans won’t accept players not being motivated for, but play how they did on Saturday and they will lose at Elland Road.
While Martinez’s comments in Madrid might please some Man United fans, is it helpful to the squad right now?
You’d rather hear a defender take some responsibility for his own performance.

Forest 0-1 Arsenal
The Champions could kick off 6 points behind the league leaders, apart from no one being sure if Man City are actually part of this title race.
How can the Premiership try to market their brand as the best in the world like this?
On the pitch, I am worried about our lack of quality in the final third and am worried that Mikel Arteta thinks performances are better than they are. Our attack is weaker than last season and we currently are not scoring from set pieces to get us out of jail.
Our last two trips to the City Ground have been goalless draws, so law of averages, we are due some luck in front of goal.
Spurs 2-0 Coventry
To be a big club, you need to think like a big club, but yet again Spurs fans want the best of both worlds.
They want to be taken seriously yet try to justify getting to October without a league win as okay because they have had periods of games where they play well.
A real big club would say 3 points out of 18 is not acceptable.
The benefit of zero European football was that De Zerbi could prepare for one match a week.
If you can’t beat a newly promoted side at home with 9 days’ preparation, then you’re in trouble.
