Luka Doncic MVP Snub: JJ Redick reacts to brutal voting result for Lakers star

JJ Redick won't entertain any discussion regarding the recent NBA GM survey that snubbed Luka Doncic for the MVP award in the upcoming season.

The Los Angeles Lakers head coach kept it blunt when asked about the awards voting and at what point the real conversation should begin.

"I keep the same rule that I kept when I worked for media," Redick said.

"I don't want to talk about MVP until at least 50 games into the season."

No MVP votes for Luka Doncic ahead of 2026-27 season

Luka Doncic was left without a single vote in the NBA GM Survey MVP prediction for the 2026-27 season.

Victor Wembanyama led the voting with 77% to win his first MVP, followed by Nikola Jokic with 10% and Anthony Edwards with 7%.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jayson Tatum also received votes, while the Los Angeles Lakers superstar was left off the list entirely.

Doncic led the NBA in scoring last season, averaging 33.5 points with 7.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists in 64 appearances for the Lakers. However, his late-season hamstring injury ruined his MVP odds, as he fell fourth in the final rankings behind Gilgeous-Alexander, Jokic, and Wembanyama.

Despite the unfavorable MVP consideration for Doncic, the Slovenian was voted the best small forward in the league with 37%.

Doncic has a lot to prove entering the upcoming season, which will begin with their Oct. 21 opening night matchup against the Golden State Warriors.
