**Arsenal are preparing to make a move for Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae, according to _Bild_ reporter Christian Falk.**
Writing on his personal website, [_CF Bayern Insider_](https://cfbayerninsider.com/2026/10/the-bayern-insider-arsenal-lurking-for-munich-starter-as-pavlovic-opens-up-on-man-city/), Falk said he has had the information “confirmed” that the Gunners are keen on signing the South Korean international during the January transfer window.
Bayern are open to selling Kim, who has been a squad player since the arrival of head coach Vincent Kompany, with Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano the favoured pairing in the middle of defence.
He is a very experienced player, having been capped 85 times by his country, and won 5 league titles at 3 different clubs.
Hincapie’s injury is worse than first feared
--------------------------------------------
Speaking after the 3-0 win over Lille on Tuesday night, manager Mikel Arteta hinted that Piero Hincapie may face an extended spell on the sidelines with an [**ankle injury**](https://goonernews.com/blog/arsenal-injury-new-piero-hincapie-martin-zubimendi/):
“Piero is improving, but it looks more significant. I think it will be a matter of weeks, but we don’t know exactly how many.”
Falk claims that the pursuit of Kim is “partly because” of Hincapie’s injury setback, although that may be pure speculation on his part.
An influential Arsenal scout is a fan of Kim
--------------------------------------------
Considering that Ezri Konsa was signed in the summer, many fans will be asking why another center-half is needed, even if Hincapie is sidelined.
Arteta can still call upon the likes of Cristhian Mosquera, Gabriel and even Riccardo Calafiori, in addition to Konsa, if needed.
However, Falk believes Kim’s arrival is being pushed by scout Maurizio Micheli, who helped bring the defender to Italy when he was working for Napoli.
Micheli has the ear of sporting director Andrea Berta, and the fact that Kim will be on the market in January has clearly set the wheels in motion. We shall have to wait and see how this transfer story develops.
