Alvarez picks a new agent and here is what it means to Arsenal

Julian Alvarez has reportedly parted ways with the agent who represented him since he was 15, following his failure to secure a move to Barcelona during the last transfer window. The development raises questions about the striker’s future and whether Arsenal could benefit from the changes surrounding his representation.

The Gunners monitored Alvarez ahead of the previous window, hoping he might consider a move to north London. However, the Argentine was reportedly determined to join Barcelona, making it difficult for Arsenal to convince him to consider an alternative destination.

Alvarez continues to favour Barcelona

Barcelona made efforts to sign Alvarez, but Atletico Madrid were unwilling to sell their striker to their Spanish rivals. The situation left the forward at Atletico, where he has struggled to find his best form since the season began.

Despite his difficulties in front of goal, Atletico reportedly want to keep Alvarez and would prefer to sell him to Arsenal rather than strengthen Barcelona. However, the striker’s reported desire to play for the Catalan club remains a significant obstacle for any other potential suitor.

Arsenal could therefore face a difficult task if they decide to renew their interest. Even if Atletico were prepared to negotiate with the Gunners, Alvarez would still need to be convinced that a move to England was the right choice for him.

New agent could favour another Barcelona move

After dismissing his previous representative, Alvarez reportedly spent time considering potential replacements as several agents approached him. He has now chosen someone who could play an important role in determining his next move.

According to Team Talk, Alvarez has opted for Pablo Barquero, who is expected to be confirmed as his new agent. The report notes that Barquero also represents Rodri and was involved in arranging his summer move to Barcelona, despite Real Madrid believing they were close to signing him.

That connection may be unwelcome news for Arsenal, given Alvarez’s existing preference for Barcelona. His choice of representative could suggest that the striker remains focused on finding a route to the Catalan club, although his intentions cannot be confirmed from the appointment alone.

For Arsenal, the situation means any renewed pursuit of Alvarez could depend on whether his priorities change. Atletico’s stance and the striker’s own ambitions remain central to determining where his future lies.
